Pass Plus

Statistics confirm that you are most at risk of having an accident during the first years of driving after passing the driving test. Because of this, the Government set up the PASS PLUS scheme. Backed by the Driving & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and a number of insurance companies, it is designed to help new drivers become more skilled and experienced in dealing with the demands of driving. If you live in Hampshire, Pass Plus is also backed by the Hampshire County Council Road Safety team who offer a £75 subsidy towards the cost of the course - subject to conditions.

PASS PLUS is an important part of post-test training. This is a six module training syllabus designed by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) to develop the skills and knowledge of newly qualified drivers and broaden their driving experience.
The modules covered are Town driving, All weather driving, Out of town and rural roads driving, Night driving, Dual carriageways & Motorways. The training will consist of, at least, a minimum of six hours tuition.
Depending on your circumstances, once completed, you will be able to obtain a discount from many insurance companies. In order to qualify for the insurance benefits, the course needs to be completed within twelve months of passing your driving test. However, I recommend that it is best taken within the first couple of months of passing your test.
